A Favorite Dessert

My cousin recently posted a blog about our family’s recipe for strawberry shortcake. It is a MUCH LOVED recipe and I am looking forward to enjoying it several times this spring. However, I have a recipe for another strawberry dessert that has been steadily moving up the “favorites” list. After making 2 of them on Mother’s Day, I thought I would post the recipe for all to enjoy. I borrowed the basis for the recipe from Pampered Chef and then adjusted it to make it work for this dessert.

BROWNIE AND STRAWBERRY TRIFLE

1 Brownie mix

Filling:
1 8oz package cream cheese, softened
1 c powdered sugar
1 small container Cool Whip
2T Milk w/ 2 oz white baking chocolate (melted together)

2 quarts of Strawberries

Bake brownie mix according to instructions in a 9×13-baking dish. Cool. Mix all ingredients for the filling together and whip until fluffy. Cut up the strawberries. When the brownies are cool, crumble half of them into the bottom of the trifle bowl. Layer in half of the filling and then put half of the strawberries on top of the filling. Do this again, using the remainder of the ingredients. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

*This cannot be made very far ahead of time because the brownies get soggy and the strawberries go bad.

If you do not own a trifle bowl, I really suggest purchasing one. It’s a simple way to “fancy” up a really easy dessert, but if you want to make this and don’t have time to acquire a trifle bowl, simply layer the filling and strawberries on the brownies in the baking dish.

If you try this recipe, plan on trying it or have a similar one to share, please leave a comment below.

Enjoy!
